Ashley Ridge tops Louisville Male to reach HIT championship

HANAHAN--Ashley Ridge reached the HIT championship for the first time in the school’s four-year history with a 4-2 victory over Louisville Male, the top team in Kentucky today at Sportsman Field.
Male loaded the bases with two out in the bottom of the seventh, but Austin Livingston ended the threat with his sixth strikeout of the game.
Ashley Ridge won its eighth straight game and improved to 17-1 on the season.
Billy Seigler hit the first pitch of the fourth inning over the centerfield fence to stake the Swamp Foxes to a 1-0 lead.
Livingston started strong against the Bulldogs, who didn’t get a hit until Justin Linares singled with two outs in the bottom of the fourth.
Livingston gave up a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Livingston scattered five hits and walked four.
But Ashley Ridge rallied with three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead. Irv Batten had the big hit, a two-run double off the wall in left center.
