Charleston Batterys Jose Cuevas named USL Pro Division Player of the Week
Charleston midfielder Jose Cuevas was named USL Pro Division’s Player of the Week after he scored a pair of goals to lead the Battery to a 2-1 victory against the Richmond Kickers in the season opener for both teams.
Cuevas, who was making his professional debut opened the scoring in the 41st minute and added a second in the 67th, which proved to be the game-winner.
A native of Farmersville, CA Cuevas spent the 2011 pre-season with the Battery before returning to the Fresno Fuego for the PDL season. Cuevas led Fresno in 2011 scoring with nine goals and adding 2 assists and was selected to the All-Western Conference team. Cuevas was joined on the USL’s Pro Division Team of the Week by Batttery defender and captain Colin Falvey.
