Search leads to drugs and arrest

A West Ashley man was arrested Thursday by Charleston police who said they confiscated marijuana, $400 cash, pharmaceuticals and drug paraphernalia at a home.

The police Special Investigations Unit Police found 74 grams (about 2.6 ounces) of marijuana in the search at 2006 Bayhill Drive, Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said.

Joshua Prescott Peterson, 21, of 1912 Wappoo Drive, is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute in proximity of a school. Peterson is being held at the Cannon Detention Center.

Francis said the investigation is ongoing.
